Undergraduate Admission

 

The Faculty of Political Science offers undergraduate programs for four specializations: Political Science (accredited specialization), Sociology (accredited specialization), International Relations and European Studies (accredited specialization) and Psychology (accredited specialization).

Number of seats/places: The number of seats/places for the admission contest is approved each year by MECSA . The total number of government founded/(tuition-free) places for 2015- 2018 was 250. For 2016 to the number of places financed from the budget will be announced on the faculty website after being approved by MECSA. Tuition Capacity for 2016-2019: for Sociology 50 places, 50 places for Psychology, 150 places for International Relations and European Studies and for Political Science 200 places.

The admission contest for the Political Science and International Relations and European Studies specializations (3 years, 180 credits), takes place in two pre-test sessions, and it consist of a written exam on one of the following disciplines:

  • Philosophy
  • Sociology
  • Economy
  • Psychology
  • History
  • Mathematics

Candidates will be admitted in descending order, taking into consideration both their grades and their specialization of choice, but regardless of the discipline they choose for the examination (philosophy or psychology or sociology or economics or history or mathematics). There will be a limited number of places for each admission

There will be a limited number of places in the available, and the enrolment or registration of candidates will be made based on the specialization of choice. A candidate can be registered on government funded places on a single program of study / specialization.

For Sociology and Psychology specializations, the admission for undergraduate studies (3 years, 180 credits)will be made in two pre-test sessions (April and July), based on two criteria:

Interview: candidates will present their letter of intent to the admission committee during the pretesting sessions (April and July) and they will be marked with pass / fail .

The grade obtained on one of the baccalaureate disciplines: sociology, psychology, economics, mathematics, Romanian language, philosophy or logic (the ranking will be based on this grade), on the candidate's choosing.

The ranking will be based on the grade obtained at one of the baccalaureate disciplines listed above (after 19 July 2016). In the case of candidates with similar grades, the second criteria taken into consideration will be the overall average score of the baccalaureate.

For the pretesting session in April, the letter of intent will be presented to the admission committee. Admitted candidates will be registered  after the baccalaureate exams (according to the Calendar of admission stated below). Rejected candidates will be able to register for the July session.

SNSPA may decide to organize a further admission session in September if there are unoccupied places funded from the budget or tax.

Admission calendar

Pre-test sessions: For the academic year 2016-2017, two pre-test sessions will be held as follows:

     In April: Saturday, the 16th of April; (Written test for the following specializations: Political Science. International Relations and European Studies and interview for the Sociology and Psychology specializations) the pre-testing session will be held at the headquarters in Bucharest SNSPA Expozitiei Boulevard, no. 30A.

     In July: Monday July 18th: written test for the following specializations: Political Science. International Relations and European Studies. The pre-testing session will be held at the headquarters in Bucharest SNSPA Expozitiei Boulevard, no. 30A.  

 In July Tuesday July 19th and interview for the Sociology and Psychology specializations; the pre-testing session will be held at the headquarters in Bucharest SNSPA Expozitiei Boulevard, no. 30A

Registration and participation in pretesting session: the on-line registration for each of the two pre-test sessions will be as follows:

     February 15th to April 14th for the pre-test session on 16 of April. The registration fee is 150 RON.

     May 9th to July 16 for pre-test session on July the 18th (for the Political Science and International Relations and European Studies specializations) and July 19th (for Sociology and Psychology specializations). The registration fee is 150 RON.

Candidates who register for both pre-test sessions will receive a 50% discount for the second exam fee. The registration fee will be paid into the following account: RO 85 BRDE 445 SV 18989114450, SNSPA, Faculty of Political Sciences . Details regarding each pre-test sessions and their results will be displayed on the faculty’s website (approximate dates for displaying the results are April 21th, 2016 and July 21th, 2016). Candidates will be required to have an ID and the receipt for the  registration fee when taking the examination.

 Admission: Candidates who have obtained at least fifty points on the written examination can be enrolled for the academic year of 2016-2017. The on-line registration will be made from July 21th to July 24th, 2016, by uploading scanned or photocopied versions of the following documents, on http://admitere.politice.ro:

  • High school diploma or its equivalent diploma; 2016 high school graduates will be required a high school certificate issued stating both overall average baccalaureate score and the grades obtained in each subject;
  • Candidates opting for  Sociology and Psychology specializations will specify the discipline on the baccalaureate exam which will be taken into account for admission;
  • Affidavit which states that the candidate is not currently enrolled in another university on government funded places(if applicable);
  • Certificate from a legally constituted organization for candidates opting for special places (Roma);
  • Birth certificate for candidates from Moldova, with the Baccalaureate sustained in Romanian and without Romanian citizenship);
  • Certificate showing the quality of student and mode of study (for students following a second specialization);
  • Bachelor degree or an equivalent diploma (for graduates who wish to pursue a second specialization);
  • Diploma obtained at a school Olympiad mentioning the obtained score (where applicable).

Candidates who have won national Olympiads (places I, II, III or honourable mentions) will be admitted without entrance examination. Media with which they will be included in the final ranking is the average score obtained at the school competition. The list with admitted candidates will be published on 25th of July 2016.

Registration of admitted candidates: registration for admitted candidates will be made on 26th, 27th, and July 28th, 2016 at the FSP Secretariat between 10:00 to 16.00. Candidates who are admitted will submit a file with the following documents:

  • High school diploma or an equivalent certificate (original) for 2016 graduates that are enrolled on government funded places , and for candidate admitted on taxed places certified copy of their high school diploma or an equivalent certificate;
  • Certified copy of the birth certificate (marriage certificate or certificate of change of name - if applicable);
  • Medical certificate stating "clinically healthy to enrol in college";
  • Certificate showing the quality of student and mode of study (for students following a second specialization);
  • Certificate from a legally constituted organization for candidates opting for special places (Roma);
  • Birth certificate for candidates from Moldova, with the Baccalaureate sustained in Romanian and  without Romanian citizenship);
  • Bachelor degree or equivalent diploma (for graduates who wish to pursue a second specialization);
  • 2 ¾-type recent  photographs;
  • Copy of identity card;
  • Receipt of payment for the admission fee;
  • Receipt of payment for the registration tax.

Other useful information:

  • The tuition fee for the academic year 2015-2016 is 2500 RON for undergraduate studies.
  • The 2015 average admission scores for undergraduate studies were:
  • Political Science Specialization: 6.85 average score for government funded places; 5.50 average score for tax places;
  • International Relations and European Studies: 8.40 average score for government funded places; 5.00 average score for tax places;
  • Sociology specialization: 7.05 average score for government funded places;
  • Psychology Specialization: 7.80 average score for government funded places; 6.70 average score for tax places.
